A night in Liverpool.

Wednesday, 30 July 2014
This time last week me, my Mum, Dad and Sister were heading into Liverpool for my Sister's graduation. Liverpool has become one of my favourite UK cities, now that my Sisters finished Uni I'm not sure if I'll ever get the chance to visit again (hopefully I will.) With that in mind as soon as we got of the train and dropped of our bags at the hotel we went 'exploring' we headed down to Albert Dock in hopes of catching a ferry but since it was late in the day we had just missed the last one. Instead we decided to grab something to eat and then go on the Liverpool Echo Wheel, which was actually pretty nice to look over the city (it's so much bigger than Nottingham!)

We also had a quick visit in Liverpool's tate museum, I do find it slightly odd whats considered art (anyone agree?) Every time I've been to Liverpool so far, we've drove past St. Lukes church, I've been wanting to visit for ages and although we couldn't go inside at the time I did manage to get a closer look at it, its such a beautiful church. After that we walked through St. John's Gardens back towards the hotel.
So the next day was graduation day! We got up nice and early because we were told it would be non-stop once we got there, which it wasn't! When we arrived we picked up the gown and spent the next hour taking photo's (and getting professional ones done) after that we were hurried over to the 'Harry Potter' building for the official snaps of all the graduates and the chucking of the hats! It was a nice day and I must admit I did feel like I was in a Harry Potter movie/some American film involving high school.
Once the photographs were done it was time for the official ceremony which was held at the cathedral. I didn't go to this since you are only allowed two tickets per person so taking advantage of the hot weather, I walked back down to Albert Dock and went to the Museum of Liverpool, which was quite interesting. I then grabbed an ice cream and sat on the dock for a while, I always feel weird doing things by myself, but in a city were no one knows me I find it so much easier. Safe to say due to the hot weather my shoulders were getting burnt so I went back to the hotel and passed out on the bed, waking up just in time to go back out for another meal and catch the train home. I've been missing Liverpool ever since!

If you are/have graduated I hope your had such a lovely day! And I'd love to hear all about your favourite cities?

  1. Looks like you had a lovely time, I'm sure you'll get back there if you like it so much, who knows what the future holds, make it happen! My two favourite cities are Newcastle, where I live now and Manchester where I'll hopefully be living this time next year... eeek! x

  2. Liverpool sounds like a good place to visit, I love a good scouse accent too ;) hope you had a good time! I just recently graduated :D I'd say one of my favourite cities is York to visit, I haven't visited many cities in the UK how terrible is that?! haha. I'm off to Edinburgh later in august though to visit the zoo so that might be another fave city of mine as well, we shall see! ;)

  3. I totally agree with you about art, it's all a bit weird! Liverpool seems absolutely lovely. I don't live too far from it whilst I'm at uni, but I've still never made the time to visit, I definitely must! Congratulations to your sister on graduating, scary to think that'll be me next year!
